Club soccer, school and social activities are an important factor in not just soccer, but youth development; and we understand that a byproduct of these important activities is a limited calendar for players.
Throughout South Carolina, we entrust player development through our clubs and licensed coaches. We do not want to interrupt their planned progress by scheduling ODP sessions frequently, in-season, while also contending with the other important factors that help them develop as young people.
Our ODP District Training Center's were built to be:
1. Low impact, to have minimal interference on a club, school and social schedule.
2. Broken up by district to reduce travel, to ensure access to information and play as close to home as possible.
3. Focus on education and exposure to the collegiate and professional pathways, to help parents and players navigate what's next.
What are District Training Center's?
The South Carolina Youth Soccer District Training Centers serve as an educational program for high-potential players throughout the State, exposing them to another pathway on their soccer journey, giving them access to and understanding of youth, collegiate and professional pathways.
High performing players will be selected from the District Training Center's to represent South Carolina at Interregional events against other State's, and also at the USYS Southern Regional Olympic Development Program (ODP) Camp.
Who are the coaches?
Coaches will hold a minimum of a US Soccer D License, and be current coaches within clubs, high schools and colleges across South Carolina.
What is the ODP Program?
The aim of the USYS ODP Program is to identify players of the highest caliber on a continuing and consistent basis, which will lead to increased success for the U.S. National Teams in the international arena. National Camps and Interregional events are held throughout the year at various locations in the United States. The National Team Coach or a National Staff Coach is present at these events to observe, train, and identify players for placement in the national pool or on a national team.
